Ronald McDonald Children's Charities Fund of Malaysia (RMCC)

A very joyous and memorable 2008 to you! I wish you great health and happiness in the coming year.

The year 2007 has been an exciting one for us at the Ronald McDonald Children’s Charities (RMCC) as we continued to assist the children of Malaysia in the areas of health, education and welfare.

Our Ronald McDonald House on the grounds of Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM, or the National University Hospital of Malaysia), in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, has, since 1999, served hundreds of children and their families who have traveled miles across the country to undergo various pediatric treatments at the hospital. To ensure that our Ronald McDonald House remains comfortable and continues to serve the community, we did a major facelift to it in 2007 and it now looks really welcoming! We would like to invite the general public to volunteer to help us at the Ronald McDonald House. Do contact us if you are interested and want to know how to help us truly make the House “A Home Away From Home”!

In 2007 RMCC also announced that we would like to set up at least one Ronald McDonald Sensory Room™ in every state in the country, in centers for mentally or physically disabled children in Malaysia. To date, we have one in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Kelantan and Sarawak. Our generous donors through the RMCC-Tropicana Charity Golf Championship 2007 have also helped to contribute to this effort. Do click on this to know about our latest Room.

We are working with our partners, ING Insurance and Pantai Hospitals to continue with our 'Gift of Smile' campaign that has been on-going since 2003. Currently, almost 200 corrective surgeries have been completed on children born with cleft lip and palate. We have also embarked on a media campaign to create awareness of this project and the response we have received is very encouraging.

Under the Tunas Wawasan scholarship program, we continue to include into our list 2 new secondary school students from each state in Malaysia and we now have about 150 children on this program.

The floods in the town of Batu Pahat in the state of Johor occurred just before the new school year began and RMCC took the chance to visit the affected families. To know more about this effort, do click on this. It was a memorable trip as we got to help lighten the burden of those families, and also the assistance we got was fantastic!

With Malaysia being a multi-cultural country, we celebrate various festivities and we always make it a point to celebrate them with children from various welfare homes, be it the Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali or Christmas.

We hope you would be able to lend us a helping hand so that together, we can create a brighter future for the less fortunate children of Malaysia. Do browse through our website for more information on how you can help. Thank you for visiting our website!

Yours Sincerely, for the Children of Malaysia,

Fadillah Yakin
